How do you know if you have tooth decay?
Tooth decay will not cause any symptoms at first. If it get worse, then a hole (cavity) can develop. You may experience the following:
- Toothache (tooth pain)
- Sharp pain when you drink or eat cold, hot or sweet drinks or food
- White or brown spot on your tooth
How do we prevent tooth decay?
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
- Use interdental brush or dental floss every day
- Have a regular dental check-ups so that dentist will be able to advise you on your oral health
What are the treatments available for tooth decay?
It varies and depends on how severe it is.
You will probably need a filling if you have a hole in your teeth.
If the tooth decay has reached the soft tissue ( pulp) in the middle of your tooth, you may need root canal treatment instead of a filling.
Sometimes the tooth decay is too severe and it may need to be removed.
